Therapy for Creatives

As a creative, I understand the pressure to always be designing, producing or creating. Artist’s mental health can be extremely confusing. When you are creating, you feel powerful and unstoppable. You’re living and walking in your purpose — everything feels aligned. But when anxieties take over, it’s another story. Anxiety, fear and self-doubt can be crippling and lead to creative blocks. Of course when you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s hard to find inspiration. But when your identity is being a creative and you’re not creating, it can leave you feeling inadequate and put even more pressure on you.

Having a therapist in who understands how to navigate the complexities of creativity is crucial in the healing process. I will work with you to understand your anxiety, self-doubt or imposter sydrome and how they work with your creativity. We will work together to understand your unique thoughts and emotions, how they have impacted your creativity in the past and how we can work with them in a constructive way. You don’t have to walk the path of healing alone. We will do it together.

Every emotion is connected and it comes from somewhere. And just being aware of it puts you at such an advantage.

Therapy for Creatives, By a Creative

Being a creative is far from black and white. There are so many facets to creativity and it takes a like-minded individual to understand those complexities. I come from a long line of female creatives. After working as a SpecialFX makeup artist in my early twenties, I decided to return to school and pursue an education and career in mental health. When I became a psychotherapist, my creativity took a backseat. After some soul searching, I decided to incorporate my passions for creativity and mental health and 23ATLANTIC was born.

As a designer, I understand the beauty that is creativity. I know the satisfaction of seeing your vision come to life. I also understand how difficult it can be when society doesn’t give your hardwork a lot of merit. We are made to feel our work doesn’t matter if we aren’t rich and famous. It can be discouraging, confusing and overwhelming all at the same time. Trust me, I get it!
